Fri, 03 May 2013 14:45:00 GMT —
Albany residents gathered out front of the government center Thursday morning to celebrate the National Day of Prayer.
Unlike years past, Thursday's ceremony was unplanned. The group of 35 or so people from various churches just showed up to pray for the city , United States troops and the nation.
People in attendance say the turn out says a lot about the city's faith.
President Obama officially proclaimed today the 2013 national day of prayer, which is always recognized on the first Thursday in May.
