Albany will need to brace for sub-freezing temperatures beginning Saturday night.
There are some safety precautions you should look out for while trying to keep warm. You might want to think twice before reaching for the space heater. Fire Chief James Carswell says if you over use the heater, it could spark a fire. Chief Carswell says to make sure the space heater is at least three feet away from anything that can catch fire. He also says to check the cord for any fraying or breaks before plugging them in. The elderly are susceptible to the cold temperatures and Carswell says they need to be checked on frequently, or stay with a relative while cold temperatures persist.
Sub-freezing temperatures are expected to last through the week.
