Authorities have identified a boy who drowned in a lake south of Atlanta as 16-year-old Benny Davis of Albany.

Henry County fire Capt. Sabrina Puckett said he was in McDonough visiting friends Monday afternoon, when he drowned in Lake Dow.

Puckett says divers responded to the small lake when a caller reported that a boy jumped from a dock and didn't resurface.

Officials say the boy's body was found about 30 feet from the dock in about 15 feet of water. Officials say signs posted near the private lake say the water is for fishing only and that swimming is prohibited.

McDonough is about 30 miles south of downtown Atlanta.
