Albany police unveiled their latest weapon in the battle against parking violators today.

The department's new parking enforcement vehicle is a model of eco-friendly technology.

The unit is completely electric and can be plugged into any outlet â" a normal charge lasts from eight to twelve hours.

Officers say it's the small features that make the biggest difference.

"I like the close-in and the windshield wiper, which we didn't have on the other one and I like the light that's on the top that turns," said Officer Mary Price.

The vehicle costs about $13,000 but will save taxpayers an estimated $6,000 per year in gas costs.
