Albany police nab shoplifters who try to make a sneaky getaway
First Update 8/8/14
Albany police have identified the duo as 34-year-old Johnnie Jackson and 39-year-old Coretta Bracey.
Albany police have made an arrest in several shoplifting cases after responding to a shoplifting call Wednesday afternoon.
When police arrived to the call, they discovered that the suspects had fled the scene in a 2013 Hyundai Sonata stolen out of Cobb County.
Officers searched the area and located the Sonata at the Rite-Aid located at Dawson Road and Westgate Drive. That's where officers were able to block in the vehicle. The two suspects were then taken into custody. The suspects were transported to the LEC and interviewed by detectives.
There was a two year boy in the car at the time. The child was taken to the hospital for observation. Officers say the child appeared to be dehydrated. The Department of Family and Children Services was also contacted about the toddler.
The two have been linked to at least five other shoplifting cases that started as early as July 20th.
