      Albany Police Citizen's Academy starts Tuesday evening

      Citizens will be given an opportunity to learn about a variety of topics related to law enforcement in Albany in addition with an opportunity to participate in a ride-along with an officer on patrol.

      The Albany Police Department starts their 27th session of the Citizen's Police Academy Tuesday evening and seats are still available.

      The winter schedule will be shortened to ten weekly, two hour sessions and they will begin on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 and will continue until Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Class times are from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

      Citizens will be given an opportunity to learn about a variety of topics related to law enforcement in Albany in addition with an opportunity to participate in a ride-along with an officer on patrol.

      Anyone interested in participating in the Albany Police Department's Citizens Police Academy can go to the City's website to pre-register by downloading an application. There are also applications available, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the front desk at the Law Enforcement Center located at 201 West Oglethorpe Boulevard. The program is free and open to the public.
