Fri, 01 Nov 2013 22:35:47 GMT — A survey says Albany ranks number six as one of America's poorest cites, but before you frown that's actually up two spots from last year.According to a survey done by 24/7 Wall St. the median house hold income is just over $34,000.The unemployment rate is the 64 highest in the country at 9.6%.And the poverty rate sits at 26.9%.Barbara Rivera Holmes with the Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission says the change could be due to good things happening in the community."We're seeing our school system improve, we're seeing our economy grow and so these are things that all coming together to move us forward."
The survey was tallied based off the population of people in Albany-Dougherty and surrounding metro areas.
