Albany hosts job fair featuring 'real jobs'

Along with employers, three to four service providers will help critique resumes on Thursday / Sarah Bleau

Attention job seekers! Get your resume ready for Thursday's job fair in Albany.

In response to the economic crisis, the City of Albany is bringing 18 local employers together for job seekers. Represented industries include law enforcement, sales, communication, entry-level management and government.

Organizers themed the job fair "Real Jobs." They say employers will have "real opportunities" not just jobs that are always open and that they continually hire.

"We wanted the employers this time to really be able to spotlight the jobs, the actual jobs, they have available and really trying to do a match for those job seekers who are looking for the jobs," says Latoya Cutts, an organizer for the job fair and also works for the Department of Community and Economic Development.

Three to four different services will also be available on Thursday to review resumes and help with interview questions.

The job fair takes place Thursday at the Albany Civic Center on West Oglethorpe Boulevard in Downtown Albany between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
