State and local officials attended

Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to unveil the state's first Medical College of Georgia Clinical Campus site. 17 students are currently in clinical rotations in and around Albany. The group started at the beginning of this month.

Medical College of Georgia's School of Medicine Dean Dr. Douglas Miller says so far everything is going well at the new campus. "In any new project like this in a new location there's always little glitches but we've managed to take care of those. The students are off and learning and working with patients right now so it's exciting" says Miller.

Miller say sites like this are important for clinical education. He adds in order for an accrediting body to give permission to expand a class, they have to demonstrate these campus help meet educational needs.
