Albany High student shot near campus
UPDATE 1/17/14 9:30 PM:
FOX 31 just spoke with Dougherty County School Police Chief Troy Conley who confirmed the victim as a 16 year old black male.
Police say he has a flesh wound, but was treated and released from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Conley says the victim and 18 year old Qars Griffin left campus, were heading towards an apartment complex behind Hugh Mills Stadium when they came in contact with an unidentified individual. The three were involved in a brief altercation; this is when the 16 year old victim was shot in the left arm by a small calibur handgun.
Conley says eyewitness interviews say it could have been a drug deal gone wrong and/or gang-related but it's too soon for police to release an official motive.
