Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit makes another drug bust
The Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit is now up to 6 large quantity drug busts for July. Around 6 p.m. Thursday officers arrested 24-year-old Calvin King at 333 Station Crossing Drive. Calvin is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, intent to distribute with-in 1000 feet of a public school, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Officers say the man was found with a little less than 2 pounds of marijuana, worth almost $10,000.
Major Bill Berry says the unit was able to catch him because of a previous arrest in Spalding County about 10 months ago. "He's gone through that system and is now here so the agents picked up the pace, got on to it and found out where he was, what he was doing. We got a search warrant and obviously he hasn't learned his lesson from Spalding County" says Berry
The Drug Unit confiscated the marijuana, $635 cash, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, sandwich baggies, and a digital scale. Officers say this bust is not connected to the one earlier this week.
