Albany boys graduate from course of adult conversation

Albany Boys and Girls Club held a graduation ceremony Thursday evening for a group of young men who are now equipped to combat teen pregnancy and STDs.

Thirty males accepted their certificates and gift cards from the Georgia Prep program.

The students participated in an eight week course where they learned about adult relationship management and sex education.

The young boys learned about abstinence as well as how to practice safe sex.

They have all the knowledge to prevent themselves from catching an STD or getting HIV or getting someone pregnant but my first thing is always for them to stay abstinent until they are really ready for it, said Maurice Gibson, Instructor for the Albany Boys and Girls Club Georgia Prep Program.

Albany Boys and Girls Club officials plan to bring the program back in October, but next time girls will be included in the class.
