The Albany Area Black Expo kicked off Tuesday night and organizers say it was a success.

The business gathering opening ceremony was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Albany.

The expo is set up as a way for businesses within the community to network and find ways to grow.

The affair is only in its second year and organizers say they're seeing the number of participating businesses grow.

"We have a lot of return businesses which is a good thing. So that means they got a lot of benefit out of it the first time. And then we're seeing a lot of new people who didn't catch it the first time or didn't know what the event was about. So now that they participated last year, they are participating even more this year," says Chris Pike, Albany City Commissioner and event organizer for the Albany Area Black Expo.
