Albany's 311 system for non-emergency city, county and Water, Gas and Light calls may be getting an award Monday in Atlanta.
Out of 42 applicants, 311 is one of 11 finalists for the Georgia Trendsetter Award.
The award goes to state projects that show forward thinking.
Monday, six will be chosen to receive this award and Assistant City Manager Wes Smith has a good feeling we could be one.
"We're one of the only systems out there based on the task and not on departments. People understand what a weed lot is or a broken down car, things like that. So it's easy for them to work with the system," says Smith.
Albany officials have been invited to several national conferences to speak on 311 and 20 communities have asked for assistance in setting up their own 311 system.
