GDOT accepted an application submitted by the Albany-Dougherty Aviation Commission which awards the Southwest Georgia hub up-to $50,000 dollars for increased ramp space.

That cash will allow Delta Airlines to be further accommodated at the new terminal, and continue to enhance the experience for visitors to Southwest Georgia.

Airport Director, Yvette Aehle says the grant does more than that however, it also justifies what the commission has been doing over the last several years.

"The projects that they can give to are few and far between, so the fact that they're giving money to our project makes me very happy. It shows that this project is necessary, needed, and more importantly they see the momentum that we've created, so we need to finish on a good note," said Aehle.

Aehle added they've received this same grant in the past, however with GDOT's ever shrinking budget it justifies their work even more.
