ADDU makes arrests in undercover prostitution operation
20 people were arrested since January in five separate prostitution stings performed by the Albany Dougherty Drug Unit.
Officials say after gathering complaints about certain areas like West Highland Avenue and South Harding Street, they made the effort to put an end to the act that can sometimes lead to worse crimes.
"Most of them are probably addicted to drugs so they're out there prostituting to make money to go to their drug dealers to get the drugs, and sometimes they might even try and rob the people that's picking them up," said Criminal Investigator Victor Camp.
Officials not only look for those who are engaging in prostitution but for the people who are purchasing favors as well and say they'll continue going out to these areas in the upcoming months.
