Accident at Westover and Gordon causes traffic issues

Due to a hydraulic spill in an accident Wednesday morning, the north-bound inside lane of South Westover, between Old Jim Davis Road and West Gordon Avenue, will be closed for up to 48 hours to complete the cleanup process. The Albany Police Department says that barricades will be in place, so drivers need to take precautions when driving in the area or plan an alternate route.

Albany police say that a Chevy Malibu driven by 23-year-old Robert Gillion from Albany and a Reeves Construction Truck driven by 53-year-old Marcus Justice of Tifton.

Officers say that Gillion ran off the the road and when trying to return, her struck a hydraulic tank which ruptured and causing its contents to spill on the road.

Those involved in the wreck were seen by EMS on the scene with no injuries reported.

Charges are still pending in the case.

An early morning accident has led to the City of Albany's Engineering Department to close off a section of Westover Boulevard between Old Jim Davis Road and Gordon Avenue.

According to FOX 31 media partner the Albany Herald, traffic is being redirected to Old Jim Davis Road as a result of the accident.
