After high demand, AARP is offering an extra day of help for those needing assistance with filing their tax returns. That will take place Wednesday, April 9.
AARP has partnered with the IRS to bring free tax filing to senior citizens in Southwest Georgia as a part of the SOWEGA Council on Aging Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
Free tax preparation began at the end of January. They are reaching out to seniors 60 and older but they say they will not turn anyone away who needs help.
"So many people were calling and wanting appointments and we just have so many people to work, and the only way we can do it is add another day," AARP Volunteer Counselor Larry Sellers said.
You can make an appointment by calling SOWEGA Council on Aging at 432-1124.
SOWEGA Council on Aging is located at 335 West Society Avenue in Albany.
