Seven local businesses were named as finalists on Thursday evening at the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce's event to kick of National Small Business Week.
Though there was tough competition, Stewbo's Restaurant Group came in a close second as runner up, but electrical company A. West Enterprises took home the top honor. Both businesses say they're thankful to be recognized for their hard work.
"Three years and six months ago we started our business in a horse barn in northwest Albany and we now have 42 employees and we've been very fortunate with the economy the way it is," said Eddie West of A. West Enterprises.
"Thanks to all of Southwest Georgia for supporting and all of our employees for all of the hard work they do to make it happen to what we do," said Bo Henry of Stewbo's.
Other nominees say it was an honor to be included in such a strong group of businesses and they're thrilled to find success during tough economic times.
