Year round Firehouse Subs Restaurants work to collect and raise funds for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The money helps to buy life-saving equipment and educational opportunities for first-responders and public safety organizations.
As of Wednesday, over $779 thousand has been given to hometown heroes in Georgia.
The Sumter County Fire Department was given new struts and an air bag system that will help keep firefighters and other emergency personnel safe while working on various vehicle accidents.
Sumter County Fire Chief John Ekaitas tells FOX 31 that this donation is a "massive, massive addition to our capabilites of providing services to Sumter County residents and anybody traveling through Sumter County."
