Supporters for "A Place for Hope" spoke with Dougherty County Commissioners today about a new resource to help Albany's homeless during the day.
The day center will be located at 206 South Monroe Street and will provide mail services, laundry facilities, and more for Albany's homeless.
Becky Boyd with A Place for Hope says a recent survey by the Salvation Army shows the day center will fill a large need for Albany's homeless. "The number one need was a day center for those who have no clue where to go during the day. It's not a hang out or a refuge. It's a place where they can go for basic needs and services that aren't provided in other places" says Boyd.
The day center is set to open October 1, 2010.
