7th grader raising money for sick teacher
After a pivotal figure in her school was diagnosed with cancer, Day Story, a 7th grader at Worth County Middle School, is trying to help by hosting a fundraiser.
To help with medical bills, people can purchase a Fat Boy's BBQ Ticket from Story or her mother, Lisa, for $7. The ticket gets you a plate of pork, potato salad and baked beans.
Story says Coach Jimmy Hughes has worked at the school for years and does so much for the students, the least they could do was try to raise money for his medical bills.
"We're selling Fat Boy's Tickets to raise money for him and we're also accepting donations because we know during the holiday times that money's tight and we know that he's taking treatments and we know that money will be tight," said Story.
To purchase a ticket, contact Lisa Story at (229) 881-4489. If you'd like to help by donating directly, send money to "The Coach Jimmy Hughes Fundraiser" to Heritage Bank.
Donations will be accepted until December 31st and Story's mother said she's already working on organizing another event for Coach Hughes.
