Second Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia, along with several students from Albany State University were looking to put a, "can on hunger," this afternoon.

The students gathered in the, Sam's Club parking lot on Westover Boulevard to gain donations, and bring awareness to hunger in the community.

Those heading up the event say they're making steady progress.

"We are halfway to our goal so we're making sure that we complete our goal before April 19th," said Albany State University student, Khadijah Nuriddin.

That goal stands at 5,000 pounds of food and the girls encourage you to drop off donations at ASU or at the Second Harvest of South Georgia offices.
