Traveling this holiday? AAA Travel projects 35 million people will also journey at least 50 miles or more from home during the Memorial Day holiday.
Despite the large amount of travelers, AAA says that this is a 0.9 percent decrease from last year.
AAA also says 89 percent of those travelers will travel by car, which is an increase from 31.1 million last year, but air travel is expected to decrease 8 percent to 2.3 million from 2.5 million in 2012.
Officials with the Georgia State Patrol want to remind motorists "to buckle up and make smart decisions."
The Memorial Day holiday travel period lasts from Thursday, May 23 to Monday, May 27.
