Three people, including two teenagers, were killed Sunday night in a traffic crash in Lee County.
Georgia State Patrol officers report that a Kia Sephia driven by 18-year-old William Cothren and a truck driven by 32-year-old Richard Bailey collided near the intersection of U.S. 19 and Creekside Drive around 9:30. 17-year-old Matthew Weeks was a passenger in the Kia. The collision killed all three people. The GPS confirms that neither Weeks nor Cothren was wearing a seatbelt. Both were ejected from their vehicle.
FOX 31 News has confirmed that Richard Bailey was the husband of Melanie Bailey, a special education teacher at Twin Oaks Elementary School. The couple has two children, a 5-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son.
The Marine Corps Logistics Base has released notification to the media that an employee at the base was killed in a car wreck Sunday night around 9:30 on U.S. 19 near the Fairfax Motel in Leesburg, but base policy prohibits the victim's name from being released until 24-hours after the family has been notified.
