Three local gas stations were powered down with the help of two suspects who are still on the loose and police need your help finding them.

The Enmark on Sylvester Road and two other gas stations on Clark Avenue went dark early Friday morning.

"Two unknown black males have gone to each of the businesses and caused some kind of damage with the power boxes and cut off the power boxes," said Phyills Banks Whitley of the Albany Police Department.

FOX 31 spoke to Water, Gas and Light who responded to all of the gas stations who were involved in this case and they told us more about how dangerous something like this could be.

Lori Farkas with Albany, Water, Gas and Light says "it's highly dangerous, if you touch the wrong wire you can be electrocuted the very thing that these dumb burglars are doing is to trying to cut the power to cut off the security systems."

Obviously that didn't happen, but the repairs can be costly, totaling over three thousand dollars.

"it depends on how damaged the meters are. In several cases, they'd have replace the entire meter in other instance they might have to repair it and we put a lock on the meter" said Farkas.

"They've also damaged front windows or glass doors as well by throwing a brick or some sort of rock through the window," said Whitley.

APD says they're still investigating the motive and if other stations have been hit. If you have information you are asked to call crimestoppers at 436-TIPS.
