      11-year-old charged in bathroom fire

      Sheriff's officials say that during the investigation of the fire, an 11-year-old student was identified and during interviews it was learned that the student had set the fire based on the dare of another student. / File

      Lowndes County Sheriff's Department has made an arrest after a fire was started in a Lowndes Middle School bathroom.

      Sheriff's officials say that during the investigation of the fire, an 11-year-old student was identified and during interviews it was learned that the student had set the fire based on the dare of another student.

      The juvenile, whose name will not be released, has been charged with arson in the second degree and has been referred to the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

      Officials say that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrest may be possible.
