      Special election set to for Gaines' unexpired term

      The Dougherty County Board of Elections has announced that a special election to fill the unexpired term of former Dougherty County Commissioner Gloria Gaines' seat has been set for May 20th.

      The Dougherty County Board of Elections has announced that a special election to fill the unexpired term of former Dougherty County Commissioner Gloria Gaines' seat has been set for May 20th.

      Qualifying for the position will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 25 and 26. The times change for March 27, lasting from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The fee will be $288.

      The last day to register to vote for this election is April 21.

      Polls at Darton State College, West Town Elementary, 2nd Mount Zion Baptist Church, Carver Teen Center, Shiloh Baptist Church, and Litman Cathedral will be open for the special election.

      A runoff election, if needed, will be held July 22.
