Southwest Georgia Regional Airport wants FAA funding approval

Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Director Yvette Aehle asked city commissioners to approve whatever funding may come down through the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA has not announced an amount yet- they are still waiting for approval from Washington.

The request for approval is a time-saving tactic for Aehle, allowing her to go ahead with the bid process the minute the FAA approves an amount.

"Usually it takes them at least a month to get it through the City Commission and the Aviation Commission, so since I don't know when they're gonna call me and when they're going to give their money out, I needed to go ahead and do this to make sure we'd be able to meet our time obligations," said Aehle.

Aehle hopes to know an amount by September.
