Lee County Commissioners approved a policy to allow EMT's to sit down for meals while working and a new logo for the county.
The board has enough money to build an animal shelter with help from the Fifth Friday Foundation. Chairman Ed Duffy says the board has used $70,000 of splost funds and $96,000 in donations towards the shelter.
The board also unanimously agreed to be the financial conduit for a $235,000 dollar federal employment grant to fund a misdemeanor probation office for the southwestern judicial circuit.
Judge Rucker Smith says it will provide many useful services for people in Lee County. "It can provide a drug court or deferred prosecution, and it's going to give the courts an opportunity to provide more services without costing the county additional money" says Smith.
