Isakson named as ranking Republican for trade subcommittee

According to information released by US Senator Johnny Isakson's office, Isakson has been named the ranking Republican for the Senate Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs and Global Competitiveness within the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance.

Jurisdiction of the subcommittee include global competitiveness and ports, such as the issue of deepening the Port of Savannah.

"Free trade and the expansion of the Port of Savannah are essential to job retention and creation not only in Georgia, but across the nation," said Isakson. "I am pleased and honored to be named the ranking member of this crucial Senate subcommittee."

Isakson will also serve on additional subcommittees including the Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Subcommittee and the Social Security, Pensions, and Family Policy Subcommittee.
