      First Black Police Chief to serve in Vienna

      According to the Cordele Dispatch, the City of Vienna has reappointed new leadership of their city including an African American who is the first ever to take the position of police chief.

      Council members of Vienna gathered yesterday for their first meeting of the year. Among the many reappointments decided upon by council members, was the role of chief.

      According to Mayor Eddie Daniels, Robert Jones is the first black police chief to ever serve in Vienna.

      Jones says he appreciates the opportunity and will continue to work to hard to better his department and serve the citizens of Vienna.
