Emerge Albany discusses the 2010 Census
Emerge Albany interesting statistics about the Census to motivate them to get the community involved in filling out their 2010 Census forms.
***For every person who doesn't return a census form, the community loses $1,700 in federal funds.
***In 2000 the nationwide response rate was 67%, Georgia's response rate was 65%, Dougherty County's response rate was 62%, and the City of Albany's response rate was 52%.
The numbers of people measured by the Census will affect how much federal funding Albany is able to receive. 2010 Census forms will be mailed out starting Monday March 15 through mid April. Officials say if you do not receive a form by mid-April visit your local census office for a form.
Residences that do not respond to the Census will get a personal visit from a Census worker in late April.
Anyone with literacy problems can visit a library or the chamber of commerce for assistance filling out the ten question Census form.
