Surrounded by his family, Dougherty County School Board member Darrel Ealum announced Thursday morning he will not seek re-election. He is instead running for the Georgia House of Representatives district 153 seat.

He has served on the DCSS school board for three years. He says this election is coming up in May and will be "fast and furious."

"I am proud to have served you on the School Board, and I will continue to serve through the end of the year," Ealum said. "As a Board, we have corrected our course, and we are now sailing in the right direction."

Ealum says education, infrastructure, and region building are challenges he will face if he wins election to the House of Representatives.
