City looks into ban on "front yard parking"
People in some areas of Albany have voiced their concerns about banning front yard parking.
Planning Director Paul Forgey was at the Albany city commission meeting Tuesday morning presenting ideas that restrict parking in residential areas.
The restrictions so far are only for "new construction" areas. In some neighborhoods, front yard parking may be the only option so the commission is considering allowing each neighborhood to decide.
"Rather than try for the city commission to dictate for every aspect of the city where you can park in your yard, we're trying to come up with a common sense approach that works for each neighborhood individually," Commissioner Roger Marietta said.
The commission decided to study the issue and revisit it at a later meeting.
