Airport demolition headed to commission
The contract for the demolition of the old Southwest Georgia Regional Airport terminal is set to go before the Albany Board of Commissioners.
The Southwest Georgia Airport Aviation Commission spent the Friday afternoon reviewing final details in the contract.
Board members decided on a new parking lot booth and eliminating the last row of parking spaces in the parking area.
Now that commissioners have voted on the new contract, it's up to Albany commissioners to vote for a final approval.
If the recommendation is approved, it means commissioners will accept the lowest contract bid with the changes made today.
Airport leaders hope to have a decision made by the end of the year and contracts signed so that demolition can begin in January.
