Speedfest 2014 was underway at the Watermelon Capital Speedway / Jon Benson

The 10th annual Speedfest Event came to Cordele for the weekend and the fans of Southwest Georgia were excited. This is the third year the Watermelon Capital Speedway has hosted the event, and mainly due to the demand from the fan base.

The top Short-Track drivers in the country gathered for the three day event to kick start the new season for 2014. Day one of speedfest was full of drivers getting settled into the area and getting the chance for some practice laps. Two day was the qualifying day, with the drivers earning their spot for the main event. Sunday, the third and final day was race day.

Drivers lined up their cars on the track for an autograph session before the first race. Once the fans cleared and everyone took their seats, the famous words "Start your engines" was heard over the loud speakers.

First race was JEGS/CRA Pro Late Models with 125 laps and race number two was ARCA/CRA Super Late Models 200 laps. Jon Hunter won the first race and Chase Elliot won the second race.
