Robbery victim arrested after chase

A 20-year-old Columbus man faces charges after police arrested him while he tried to chase several men who robbed him and his friends at gunpoint early Friday.

The unidentified man ended up wrecking his Ford Focus during the car chase and was charged with driving under the influence and crossing a center line.

Two Columbus State University students told police they were with the man and another male friend at a gas station around 2 a.m. when a man approached the male and demanded money at gunpoint. The robbers took $300 from one of the men and three cell phones, then jumped into the green van and fled.

The two male victims then decided to get into their own vehicle and chase after the robbers.

The pursuit ended when the victims' car wrecked.
