Light leads to trouble for Moody helicopter
According to officials at Moody Air Force Base, an HH-60G Pave Hawk assigned to the base executed a precautionary landing at Hahira Middle School during a routine maintenance check flight around noon on Tuesday.
Officials say the helicopter safely landed and first responders immediately secured the scene. After evaluation by aircraft maintenance specialists from Moody, the HH-60 took off and returned to the base at approximately 1:50 p.m.
The precautionary landing was a safety measure taken when a light on the aircraft indicated a potential mechanical issue; standard protocol dictates the pilot land the aircraft in a safe location as soon as possible.
