From 7 to 77, the game of golf can be played at any age. Though, it's better to hook on to the sport when you're young.
The Albany Recreation and Parks department and the Flint River golf course are doing their part, keeping kids on the course
This week, the Hook a Kid on Golf clinic swung into its fifteenth year. Twenty kids learned the fundamentals, rules and etiquette of the game under Flint River golf course manager, Roy Snead.
Though, every young golfer had a different incentive for the week on the links.
"I never really thought I'd be into golf cause mainly I'm a nerd, so I don't really do sportsâ|it's not really my thing. Surprisingly, I liked this. It was really fun," camper Maggie Nguyen said.
"When my parents go play golf, I just always ride in the golf cart and it gets pretty boringâ|so I came and got golf clubs," camper Jordan Elder said.
As most golfers know, each day on the course is different. For these campers, the grand finale is coming Friday. The kids get a chance to show off their skills with their parents on the course.
Yes, all the kids get a new set of clubs.
