The Deerfield-Windsor - Sherwood Christian rivalry took a two-year hiatus, but made its way back on the gridiron last season. Unfortunately for SCA, the competition break didn't change the history of this cross-town rivalry.
FOX 31's The Blitz Game of the Week pairs two teams playing against each other for the sixteenth time with the definitive historical advantage swaying in favor of the DWS Knights
The Knights have won 14 of the last 15 match-ups including a 28-6 victory in last season's opener. As the defending GISA 3A state champions, it's safe to call the Knights the favorite in Friday's game, also.
Deerfield outnumbers the SCA roster (25 players) three to one, but both head coaches have played it cool in week one.
"It's the first game of our season...not to mention it's a region game and all those games are mighty important. Right now early in the year...we're still worried about ourselves," Knights head coach Allen Lowe said.
"To have the opportunity to possibly do something that no one else thinks you can doâ|and believe in one another I think that is one thing we're trying to rest our hats on," Eagles head coach Otis Covington said.
