The popularity of little league baseball continues to grow and this year two teams from the Southwest Georgia found themselves in a winner take all situation. The Dizzy Dean 12U League had both Albany and Lee County battling it out for the championship game. The three game series was no cake walk for either team.

In game one Albany edged Lee County 7-6, putting pressure on Lee County. In game two Lee County managed to get the win, 5-4 over Albany, forcing game three. In game three everything got dicey. Due to weather game three was postponed after the start of the first inning of play.

The next day both teams picked up the game from the start of the second inning with Albany having a demanding lead 7-0. In the bottom of the second inning Lee County finally got the bats going scoring three runs closing in on Albany, 7-3. In the end, it was Albany who walked away as the champions with a final score of 10-7.

Albany will represent Southwest Georgia in Southaven, Mississippi in the Dizzy Dean World Series on July 25th- August 1st.
