Albany State Hosts Two Saturday Series

A full slate of action on the diamonds at the Albany State sports complex on Saturday afternoon. Fans of Golden Ram baseball and softball could take 20 steps in either direction, and find a game to watch.

Albany State baseball swept a doubleheader with ease from Morehouse College, 20-7 and 12-2. ASU benefited from some home cooking. The Rams had not played a home game since March 22.

Game one, the Rams offense was as hot as Saturday TMs Georgia sun. ASU TMs hitters tallied 14 runs in the third and fourth innings. In game two, Rams pitcher Ken Nesbitt shut down the Tigers. Nesbitt went the distance giving up two runs and adding three strikeouts.

The wins continue Albany State TMs good start in conference moving the team TMs record to 7-1

The Albany State Lady Rams split a softball series with Fort Valley State, losing game one 5-4 and winning game two 14-5

The Lady Rams were forced to play catch-up for most of game one. Trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the 6th, the Rams pushed two runs across and moved the score to 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th. The Rams left the tying run, Macy Mager, at third base after Shandria Usher flied out to end the game.

In game two, ASU TMs Chaconna Marks ripped a three-run homer over the left field fence in the first inning. Later in the frame, Elena Litvina doubled to center scoring Dominique Bryant. The Rams added four more runs in the bottom of the second. The game was called in the fifth inning, 14-5
