Spring time kicks off baseball season, high school track, and soccer, but it also means the beginning of archery's outdoor season. Terrell County each year hosts the 1st tournament of the year, called Steve White Memorial, and attracting archers from all over the state to compete.
The 4-H S.A.F.E. (Shooting Awareness, Fun, and Education) Program is the one who puts on the event, with archers ranging from as young as 4th grade all the way through their senior year of high school. In order to break up the competition, there are three different divisions known as cloverleaf (youth), Junior, and Senior.
The tournament consists of three different events known as, 3-D Portion, Field Targets, and FITA Targets. At the end of the day, the tournament was a great success with close to 80 different archers preparing for the new season and start preparing for the state tournament that begins in May.
